You can be a part of the CI Compass Fellowship Program (CICF) – offered to undergraduate students for the Spring semester in the 2023-2024 academic year. CICF is accepting applications from September 12 – October 20, 2023.

Community college students are encouraged to apply.

CI Compass is the National Science Foundation (NSF) Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Center of Excellence, offering a distinctive fellowship program for undergraduate students in the U.S. who are pursuing studies in computer science, information science, data science, applied mathematics, and related fields.

CICF provides student fellows with the opportunity to learn about CI development and NSF Major Facilities (MFs), develop CI-related skill sets, and engage with CI professionals.

The fellowship program consists of 12-weeks of technical and research skills training during the Spring semester, and an optional, invited hands-on project-based learning experience with an MF or a CI Compass institution during the Summer. A syllabus for Spring 2023 can be found here.

CICF is free to students and can be taken for course credit, depending on their institution’s requirements. CICF Student Fellows will also be provided up to a $1200 travel reimbursement to attend a computing-related domestic conference of their choice (restrictions may apply).

More information about CICF and the application can be found at ci-compass.org/student-fellowships.
