Celebrating Women’s History Month with Opportunities for Women

Giving women equal opportunities to pursue and thrive in STEM careers helps narrow the gender pay gap, enhances women’s economic security, and ensures a diverse and talented STEM workforce. In celebration of Women’s History Month, GMiS has sponsorship opportunities to partner in support of the next Ellen Ochoa, Linda Cubero or Dr. Shirley Jackson.

1) Sponsor a Merit-Based Scholarship for Women starting at $1,000 All GMiS STEM Scholars have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA; are enrolled full-time in a STEM degree-seeking program, at an accredited college/university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico; and are either of Hispanic descent or demonstrate service and leadership within the Hispanic community.

2) Sponsor a Travel Grant ($750) or Student Registration ($250) to the 2022 GMiS ConferenceRemove the financial barriers to give deserving female STEM students the opportunity to attend the GMiS Conference and engage with innovators, recruiters, and other STEM professional female role models. Help them broaden their networks for employment, hone their STEM-Career Readiness, and gain perspectives into emerging technologies as they attend and learn from company seminars and networking events that will support their career pursuits. 

CAHSI Latina+ Computing Sessions (4 Co-Sponsorship Opportunities at $10,000)   

These sessions are directed to Latina+ computer scientists and technologists. This series brings undergraduate and graduate students pursuing computing degrees together with CAHSI leaders, industry partners, and current and past student leaders. Students will engage in activities to build community, leadership, and an integrated Latinas+ computing identity. Topics include Building Community and Networking on Campus, Expanding Your Reach and Influence Post-Graduation, and a guided Community Reflection. The goal is to increase the number of Latinas+ who persist to graduating with their computing-related degrees.   

Year-Round Virtual Engagement Opportunities  

Career Development Webinars for Women by Women ($10,000)   
45-minute webinars provide an excellent venue to address technological innovations, STEM career pathway programs, and best practices to navigate online recruitment opportunities. 

STEM Career-Readiness Webinars for Women by Women ($3,000) 
Opportunity to host up to 30 female STEM students in a 45-minute virtual session and address one of the following STEM Career-Readiness topics: One-on-One Resume ReviewDeveloping your LinkedIn ProfileCurating your Social Media FootprintVirtual Behavioral InterviewsPersonal Branding/ImageConfidence BuildingThe Art of Negotiating Your First JobNavigating the STEM WorkplaceSelf-EmpowermentCultivating a Successful NetworkLeading from WithinBuilding Your Financial Portfolio
